Why do I need to verify my phone number or use an app like Authenticator?

This article explains how Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) helps protect your Axi account, the available verification methods, and when MFA may be required, including during sign-up, login, adding a wallet, or submitting a withdrawal request.

To keep your account safe, MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) adds a layer of protection so only you can access your account—even if someone else knows your password.

You can choose:

  • Authenticator App: Use an app like Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator for codes.

  • Phone: A code is sent to your phone. Make sure your registered phone number is correct, and your phone has network coverage. If you select SMS but receive the OTP via WhatsApp, make sure WhatsApp is installed on your device and that you have access to the registered phone number.

An MFA may be requested when you:

  • Signup

  • Add a wallet

  • Apply for a withdrawal
