Using drop-downs as answer types in Excel

Overview

If you respond to a question which has choices, and respond only in a column or cells which have a predefined drop-down fields, select drop-down as the answer type.

Using drop-downs as answer types in Excel

There are two options for the drop-down answer type:

  • Normal:
  • Predefined: The application automatically identifies these.

Using normal drop-downs

  1. Select the Answer column and map it with Answer from the right menu options.
  2. When the Answer Configuration pop-up displays, change the Answer Header to Response (optional) and select Dropdown as the Answer Type.
  3. Enter the Value in File and Value in UI values.
    Note: Values in the UI must be unique; same values are not accepted.
  4. Click Add Answer Option to add more values if needed; then click Save.
  5. Click Import to import the file.
  6. On the Answering page, choose a value from the Select the Value drop-down..
  7. Answer the questions and export the responses in the source.
    Note: Upon export the responses can be found in the exact column.

Using predefined drop-downs

  1. Click the Auto-Identify drop-down icon; then select the Answer column and map it with Answer from the right options menu.
  2. When the Answer Configuration pop-up appears, click Auto-Identify drop-downs.
  3. When the Select Answers pop-up appears, select the checkbox to change the answer header (if required) and then click Apply.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Click Import to import the file.
  6. On the Answering Page, answer the questions and export the responses in the source.
    Note: Upon export the responses can be found in the exact column.
