Summary: This article discusses Spam, how it works and what features Orum offers to offset the Spam challenge. If you have any unanswered questions, please contact our Support Team for further discussion.
When numbers are used to make calls, be it from a personal cell phone, the Orum dialer, or even an office line, each carrier that receives the calls has their own way of determining what is spam and what is not.
The Federal Communications Commission responded by introducing Caller ID Authentication which was required to be implemented by all carriers using the STIR/SHAKEN framework (or an equivalently acceptable solution) by June 30, 2021. This is intended to provide a common framework for carriers to communicate to each other whether calls are from legitimate businesses or not.
Given time, we expect STIR/SHAKEN to help mitigate erroneously flagged calls, but we have yet to see how this authentication method will be factored into the hundreds of different spam prevention systems (apps, smartphone software, etc) which all use different secret recipes or formulas in detecting spam.
At the same time, carriers do not provide details over how and what they consider to be spam. This is so actual ‘spammers’ do not simply route around these protocols.
That being said, we have anecdotally found that as the number of calls placed from a number increase, the likelihood of the originating number becoming tagged as spam increases. We have found this to be true when a high amount of calls is placed in a short amount of time.
Boost Connect: Boost Connect uses machine learning, data from your crm, and data from the Orum ecosystem to display a unique Call From number that has a higher likelihood to lead to a connect.
Users are provided with 5 - 10 Call From numbers per month to use. This allows users to avoid situations where one number carries all of their phone activity.
All Call From numbers are Grade A Business Lines that are yours when they are used in your Orum Account. No spoofing is used.
Reputation Monitoring: Orum uses a 3rd party service that checks for any known spam filings. This service runs every day for every Call From number in the Orum ecosystem.
Within the Orum product, we show an icon next to each Call From number you have to tell you if any numbers have potentially been flagged as spam (as seen below).
