Using Responsive's TRACE Score
Updated 3 months ago

Overview

Responsive is working to make sure the responses produced by Responsive AI are as accurate and useful as possible. To that end, we have instituted our TRACE score initiative to measure the following factors for each generated response:

  • Trustworthiness: Is the answer based on authoritative, verifiable sources?
  • Relevance: Does it directly address the question’s intent and context?
  • Accuracy: Are all facts, figures, and references correct?
  • Completeness: Does it fully resolve the question with all necessary detail?
  • Explainability: Is the answer’s logic clear, with traceable source attribution?

After Responsive AI crafts responses, TRACE allows you to check them. It assigns them a score based on the factors listed above. An answer can receive up to a maximum of 100 points, or up to 20 points for each factor. The higher the score, the more accurate the response.

The total TRACE score appears in a circle on the card, where 100 is the best and 0 is the worst. The color of the circle depends on the score:

  • Green: 76-100% accuracy. High confidence; content is strong across dimensions, though human review is still recommended.
  • Yellow: 51-75% accuracy. Moderate to high confidence; review is advised, especially for factors that scored lower.
  • Orange: 26-50% accuracy. Moderate to low; review is advised, especially for factors that scored lower.
  • Red: 0-25% accuracy. Low confidence; response likely needs revision before use.

You can hover over the circled score to see it broken down by the factors. Each line in the breakdown has the color matching its accuracy as described above.

After you refine the response, you can click the circle icon to perform the check again. When you are satisfied with the response, you can apply it to the project or update your Content Library.
