Bulk Uploading Contractors in Contractor Management

This article discusses how to add multiple contractors using Contractor Management. Please note that your Contractor Management account must be established first before you can add new contractors.

To add a contractor, a user must be designated as a PTO Manager, HR Manager, or Company Admin.

This page is dedicated to hiring contractors if you are trying to hire a supported employee, please visit How to Complete Onboarding Forms.

If you want to add specific requirements to a contractor, the group functionality allows you to add additional requirements that a contractor must complete before getting paid. This can be used for Non-disclosure agreements, writing guides, or internal policies. Check out our Adding Requirements to Contractors with Engagements to learn more.

Bulk Uploading Contractors to Contractor Management

Upon adding a contractor, they will immediately receive an email inviting them to the platform. Once they complete their profile set up, they will be considered active and part of your subscription. Please review your contractors before adding them.

Step 1. From the Global Work Platform™ Contractors section, click Hire Contractors

There are other Hire Now buttons that will also bring you to this same section. If you click on Begin Hiring from the Homepage, you will be prompted to answer the type of hire. In this instance, you would select a Contractor and click Continue.

Step 2. Select Bulk Onboarding

Feel free to use the Talend Classification Self-assessment to evaluate whether a contractor should be classified as an Employee. We have also partnered with Leading Consultancy firms. Should you want additional guidance before making the decision, please Contact us.

[Optional] Take the Classification Self-assessment

Accurate worker classification is key to maintaining legal compliance, managing taxes correctly, and minimizing the chance of legal and financial penalties. Take our Talent Classification Self-assessment to help you evaluate whether your hire is correctly classified.

Step 3: Download the Template or Upload Your Spreadsheet in the Contractor Management App.

On the bulk upload screen, you have two main options: Click Download Example to get a template you can fill out with your contractors' information. If you already have your spreadsheet ready, click Upload Contractors to begin the upload process. For reference, the template requires fields such as the contractor's first and last name, email, phone number, and contractor ID.

Step 4: Upload Your Spreadsheet

After you have completed your spreadsheet, click Upload Contractors. You will be directed to a confirmation page to review the imported data. Here, you can confirm the information matches correctly. If everything looks good, click Import Contractors to continue.

Step 5: Match Spreadsheet Columns with Template Fields

On the next screen, you will see all the columns from your spreadsheet. If any of your spreadsheet's columns don't align with the template fields, you can either select a different field from the dropdown or remove the field by clicking the down arrow. Ensure all fields are correctly mapped to their corresponding columns.

Step 6: Final Review and Import

Once all columns are correctly mapped, you will see a detailed view of the data to be imported. Verify that everything looks accurate. If so, click Import Contractors to initiate the upload process. If there are no errors, the contractors will be added, and you will see a screen displaying the number of contractors successfully imported.

Step 7: Submit and Complete the Process

After reviewing the details, click Submit to finalize the upload. You will be taken back to the Importer page, where you can click Import Contractors to add all the contractors from your spreadsheet. If there is an issue or if you want to start over, you can select Delete Import.

Step 8: View the Import Summary

Once the process is complete, a summary of the imported contractors will be displayed. You can click See All to review the details of all contractors added through the bulk upload process. This method simplifies adding multiple contractors, streamlining onboarding and allowing you to manage large contractor engagements efficiently.
