Import speed depends on how you're bringing your data in and how much of it there is. Here's what's typical, how to check progress yourself, and when it's worth contacting support.
Import Method | Typical Time | Where to Check Progress |
|---|---|---|
Connected integration (Shopify, Chargebee, Sage Intacct, Orb, DualEntry, etc.) — first-time sync | A few minutes to a few hours for most accounts | Data Sources → Manage Integrations |
Large historical datasets via an integration | Initial import can take 2–3 days, due to API limits on some platforms | Data Sources → Manage Integrations |
Manual CSV upload | Typically minutes, depending on file size | File Upload confirmation / Data Sources |
If you have a smaller transaction volume, you'll likely see everything finish on the faster end. If you're importing a large amount of historical data, a multi-day sync is expected, not a sign something's wrong.
You don't need to wait and wonder — you can check progress anytime:
Go to Data Sources → Manage Integrations.
Find your connected platform in the list.
Look at its status:
Syncing — your import is actively in progress.
Read-Only — the import is complete and your data is ready to review.
Once it flips to Read-Only, check your Transactions, Customers, and Products tabs to confirm everything came across.
Before reaching out, a few quick checks often resolve things on their own:
Refresh the page. The status doesn't always update live — a refresh can reveal it actually finished.
Confirm the integration is still active. In Manage Integrations, make sure the connection isn't showing an error or disconnected state.
Double-check your credentials. If a platform password, API key, or authorization has expired, the sync can stall until it's reconnected.
Consider your data volume. A large historical import (thousands of transactions) can take a couple of days — this is expected, not a malfunction.
Q: Does the import time depend on my transaction volume?
A: Yes. Higher volumes take longer, and very large historical datasets can take a few days on some platforms due to API limits.
Q: Can I keep using Kintsugi while an import is running?
A: Yes. You can continue using other features normally while the sync runs in the background.
Q: Why does it say "Syncing" instead of a percentage or countdown?
A: Kintsugi shows a status rather than a progress bar since sync speed depends on the source platform's API, not just your data size. "Syncing" simply means it's actively in progress.
Q: I uploaded a CSV — is the process the same?
A: Manual CSV uploads are typically much faster than platform syncs since there's no third-party API involved, but progress is confirmed the same way: check Data Sources for confirmation your data has landed.
If your status still shows Syncing well past the expected window above, and you've tried the checks here, we're glad to take a look. Click the chat bubble in the bottom-right corner to reach our support team.
