Before you can complete your VAT or VES registration in Thailand, you will need to prepare the appropriate supporting documentation. Requirements differ between the standard VAT registration and the simplified VES scheme.
When registering for standard VAT with Thailand's Revenue Department, resident businesses and non-resident businesses with a PE are generally required to provide:
Evidence of business registration or incorporation (e.g., company certificate, articles of incorporation)
Evidence of physical presence in Thailand (e.g., lease agreement, utility bills, office address details)
Identification documents for authorized signatories or directors
Details of the business's taxable activities and products or services
Estimated or actual annual revenue figures
For non-resident businesses registering under the VES scheme, the Revenue Department has published a dedicated registration guide. Commonly required information includes:
Business name and country of incorporation
Business registration number or equivalent identifier from the home country
Description of electronic services provided to Thai customers
Estimated or actual annual revenue from electronic services to Thai B2C customers
Authorized contact person details
Payment method for remitting VAT to Thailand (international wire transfer, credit card, or debit card are accepted; a local Thai bank account is not required)
VES registration is completed online through the Revenue Department's VES portal.
Tip: VES-registered businesses are not required to maintain a local Thai bank account. VAT payments are accepted in Thai Baht via international wire transfer, credit card, or debit card.
Standard VAT Registration is processed through your local Revenue Department office or via the Revenue Department's e-filing system.
VES Registration is completed online at the Revenue Department's VES portal. The registration instruction guide is available on the Revenue Department's official website.
