To import your existing Texas sales tax registration into Kintsugi, you'll need to provide a few details issued by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts when you registered your business. Texas manages its tax accounts through the eSystems/Webfile portal, the state's online platform for filing, paying, and managing business taxes. Once imported, Kintsugi can manage your Texas sales tax filings.
When importing an existing Texas sales tax registration into Kintsugi, you'll need the following:
TX State Tax ID / Taxpayer Number
WebFile Number
Your TX State Tax ID, also referred to as your Texas Taxpayer Number, is an 11-digit number issued to you by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts when you registered for your sales tax license. It begins with either a 1 or a 3.
You can find your TX State Tax ID / Taxpayer Number in any of the following places:
Your Texas Sales Tax Permit. Your Taxpayer Number is printed on the permit issued to you by the Texas Comptroller after registration.
Your Texas Webfile account. Log in at comptroller.texas.gov and navigate to your account summary to locate your Taxpayer Number.
Texas Sales Taxpayer Search. Search for your business at Taxpayer Search. Enter your FEIN without any hyphens and click “Submit.” Your Taxpayer ID will appear alongside your business details.
Texas Comptroller correspondence. Any notices or letters from the Texas Comptroller's office may include your Taxpayer Number.
💡 Can't find your Taxpayer Number? Contact the Texas Comptroller's office at 1-800-252-5555 for assistance.
Your WebFile Number is an 8-character ID issued by the Texas Comptroller that grants access to your Webfile account. It begins with two letters followed by six numbers — for example, RT123456.
⚠️ Important: Your WebFile Number must begin with RT for sales tax. Numbers beginning with XT are associated with Franchise Tax and will not work for sales tax filing purposes.
You can find your WebFile Number in any of the following places:
Your Texas Comptroller correspondence. Your WebFile Number is printed on filing notices and letters sent to you by the Texas Comptroller's office.
Your Texas Sales Tax Permit or registration paperwork. Your state-issued registration documents may include your WebFile Number.
Texas Comptroller eSystems/Webfile portal. If you have previously logged in to Webfile, your WebFile Number was used as part of your login credentials. Check any saved login information or prior correspondence for this number.
Once you provide the required credentials, Kintsugi will initiate the third-party access request. You do not need to validate or approve the request separately, as Kintsugi will complete this step on your behalf.
Once access is confirmed, Kintsugi can continue with the registration import setup in the app.
