Enabling Third-Party Access in Maryland

Guide for granting third-party access in the Maryland Tax Connect portal.

This help article walks you through the steps to grant third-party access to your Maryland sales tax account. Providing these permissions allows Kintsugi to retrieve your registration details and complete the registration import setup within the app.


Step 1: Log in to your MD state tax account

  1. Go to Maryland Tax Connect.

  2. Enter your “User ID” and “Password” and click “Log In.”

Step 2: Go to “Profile Information” and click “Manage Authorized Users”

Step 3: Select “Add New Authorized User” to continue

Step 4: Fill the “New User Authorization” page

  1. Enter the following credentials for the “New User Authorization” page:

    • User ID: KintsugiMD

    • Registration Confirmation Number: TU00002243919

  2. Click the “Next” button to proceed.

Step 5: Fill the “User Details” page

  1. Check the box to the left of the taxpayer's name.

  2. For the start date, enter January 1st of the year Kintsugi will begin filing for you.

  3. Click "Taxpayer Functions" button to continue.

Step 6: Set Authorized Taxpayer Functions

  1. Check the box next to each of the following:

    • File Returns for All Taxes

    • Make a Bill Payment

    • Make Payments for All Taxes

    • View Notices

    • View Tax Type Specific Notices for All Taxes

  2. Click the “OK” button.

  3. You will receive a pop-up, "Please select Save on the User Detail page in order to submit the changes" and select "OK" again.

Step 7: Click the “Account Authorizations” button

Step 8: Set Account Authorizations

  1. Check the box next to "SALES AND USE TAX / FILING."

  2. For the start date, enter January 1st, 20XX, the year Kintsugi will begin filing for them.

  3. Click “Account Functions.”

Step 9: Assign “Account Functions”

  1. Under “Account Functions” check the box next to the following:

    • File Returns

    • Make Payments

    • View Tax Type Specific Notices

  2. Click the “OK” button.

Step 10: Save the changes on “Account Authorizations” page

  1. Upon returning to the “Account Authorizations” page, select "OK" in the bottom right corner. 

  2. You will receive a pop-up, "Please select Save on the User Detail page in order to submit the changes." Select "OK" again.

Step 11: Save “User Details”

On the “User Details” page, select "Save" in the bottom-right corner.

Step 12: Confirm the changes

On the confirmation page, confirm all eight functions listed above have been assigned and click the "Confirm" button.

Step 13: Log out of your account
