How to De-Register from a State

Learn how to de-register your business from a state directly in the Kintsugi app, plus what to expect during the process.

If you no longer need to collect or remit sales tax in a state, you can request to de-register your business directly in the Kintsugi app.

Step 1: Submit a De-Registration Request

  1. Log into the Kintsugi app.

  2. Go to Registrations in the left-hand menu.

  3. Find the state or jurisdiction you want to de-register from.

  4. Click the three dots beside the status that usually reads "Registered."

5. Click De-register.

6. Click Confirm on the pop-up message.

A message will appear at the bottom of the screen, confirming the successful de-registration of the state.

7. Once submitted, the status will show "Deregistering."

Step 2: Processing Your Request

Our team will review your request and process the de-registration.
Processing times vary depending on the state. We’ll notify you once it's complete.


Before You De-Register

  • Make sure all taxes, fees, and filings are up to date.

  • Some states require extra paperwork. If that applies, we’ll guide you through it.
