Connecting an Amazon Marketplace in Another Country

Updated last month

Your Amazon connection asks for two locations, and they answer different questions. Picking the wrong one is the most common reason a connection points at the wrong store, or imports the same orders twice. This explains what each field means so you can choose correctly the first time.

Quick Summary

  • Seller Central Login Region follows your Amazon Seller Central account, not your company

  • Select the location of the marketplace follows the store whose sales data you want

  • the two are independent, so a US account can sync a marketplace in another country

  • where your company is incorporated does not affect either field

  • you need a second connection only when the marketplace belongs to a separate Seller Central account

Field

What it controls

What decides your answer

Seller Central Login Region

The Amazon domain Kintsugi sends you to when you authorize the connection

Where your Seller Central account is registered, for example US (.com)

Select the location of the marketplace

The store whose sales data Kintsugi imports

The country of the marketplace you want to sync, for example Canada

Take a US company that signs in to Seller Central on amazon.com and also sells on Amazon.ca. The login region is US (.com), because that is where the account lives. The marketplace location is Canada, because that is the store whose orders Kintsugi imports. The same pattern applies to any marketplace country.

When you need a second connection

Same Seller Central account

Separate Seller Central account or store

What to do

Add the marketplace in your existing Amazon connection's settings, if the field allows it

Create a second connection with Connect Another

Which login region

The one already on that connection

The region where the second account is registered

Which Merchant Token

The one already on that connection

The Merchant Token belonging to the second account

Connecting the same Seller Central account twice can import the same orders twice and overstate your tax exposure. If you are not sure which case applies to you, reach out before you connect.

What Kintsugi does automatically vs. what you do

Kintsugi handles:

  • sending you to the correct Amazon sign-in domain for the login region you choose

  • importing orders from the marketplace you select, once the connection is authorized

You handle:

  • choosing the login region that matches your Seller Central account

  • choosing the marketplace whose data you want, since Kintsugi does not add one for you

  • deciding whether that marketplace belongs to an account you already connected

  • supplying the Merchant Token for that account

What this Article Does Not Cover

  • Connecting Amazon end to end. The full setup and authorization flow, including where to find your Merchant Token, is in the Amazon Read-Only Integration Guide.

  • A connection that has stopped syncing. If Amazon was working and now shows Unauthorized, see How to Reconnect Your Amazon Integration.

  • Tax calculation inside Amazon. The Amazon integration is read-only. Kintsugi imports your orders for nexus monitoring, reporting, filing, and remittance.

  • Whether a new country creates a registration obligation. Adding a marketplace gives Kintsugi the data to monitor your exposure there. It does not register you anywhere.

FAQs

My company is based in the US. Should the login region be United States? The login region follows your Seller Central account, not your company. If you sign in to Seller Central on amazon.com, choose US (.com), even when the store you are syncing is in another country.

Do I need a second connection for a marketplace in another country? Only when that marketplace belongs to a separate Seller Central account or store. Marketplaces under an account you already connected are handled in that existing connection's settings.
