Choose whether changes you make to products in a connected source may update the matching products in Kintsugi. Use this when you maintain your catalog in Kintsugi and want your source system to stop changing it.
Time required: about 2 minutes
You will need: access to Kintsugi Configuration settings for your organization
The setting is on by default for every organization.
It applies to your whole organization and to every connection that sends product data. You cannot set it per platform or per field.
Products you have already edited or approved in Kintsugi stay protected either way, so you do not need to turn the setting off to protect them.
Navigation:
Log in > Configurations > Settings > Enable or Disable Allow Product Updates From Source
Use your usual account at the Kintsugi app.
Select Configuration from the left-side menu bar.
Select Settings submenu.
Locate the toggle labeled Allow Product Updates From Source.
Set the toggle.
Turn it on to let source changes update existing products.
Turn it off to keep existing products unchanged.
.
The toggle holds its new position after the page reloads. To test the behavior end to end, change a product name in one connected source, wait for that connection's next sync, then open Products in Kintsugi and check the product. With the setting on, the new name appears. With it off, the old name stays.
The setting covers all product fields at once. There is no way to sync some fields and hold others.
The setting covers all connections at once. There is no per-connection option.
Turning it off does not stop Kintsugi from creating products it finds at the source for the first time.
Turning it back on does not replay changes you missed while it was off. Only updates that happen after you turn it on are applied.
Products you edited or approved in Kintsugi are never updated from the source, whatever the toggle says.
Kintsugi does not send your categories or classifications back to the source.
Q: Will turning this off break my tax calculations?
A: No. Your existing products, classifications, and transactions stay as they are. You are choosing to keep Kintsugi as the record of truth for product details.
Q: Does the change take effect right away?
A: Yes. It applies from the next sync or webhook update your connection sends.
Q: Can two people in my organization have different settings?
A: No. The setting belongs to the organization, so it applies to everyone.
