Kentucky Credentials for Importing Registration

How to locate the state-issued credentials required for importing your Kentucky registration.
Updated 2 days ago

To import your existing Kentucky sales tax registration into Kintsugi, you'll need to provide a few details issued by the Kentucky Department of Revenue when you registered your business. Kentucky manages its tax accounts through the Kentucky Business OneStop portal, the state's online portal for registering, filing, and managing business taxes. Once imported, Kintsugi can manage your Kentucky sales tax filings.

Required Credentials

When importing an existing Kentucky sales tax registration into Kintsugi, you'll need the following:

  • Business Name

  • Kentucky Tax Account ID

  • FEIN

  • Gross Receipts from most recently filed return

What's My Business Name?

Your Business Name is the official legal business name you provided to the Kentucky Department of Revenue when you registered for your sales tax account.

Where to find it

You can find your registered business name in any of the following places:

  • Your Kentucky Certificate of Registration. When a taxpayer registers, the Kentucky Department of Revenue issues a Certificate of Registration. Your registered business name appears on this certificate.

  • Your Kentucky Business OneStop account. Log in at onestop.ky.gov and review your business profile or account information to confirm the name on file.

  • Kentucky Department of Revenue correspondence. Any notices, letters, or account-related communications from the Kentucky DOR will reference your registered business name.

What's My Kentucky Tax Account ID?

Your Kentucky Tax Account ID is the unique account number assigned to your business by the Kentucky Department of Revenue when your sales tax account was created.

Where to find it

You can find your Kentucky Tax Account ID in any of the following places:

  • Your Kentucky Certificate of Registration. Your Tax Account ID is included on the Certificate of Registration issued to you by the Kentucky DOR after your sales tax account was approved.

  • Your Kentucky Business OneStop account. Log in at onestop.ky.gov and navigate to your sales tax account summary to locate your account number.

  • Kentucky Department of Revenue correspondence. Any notices or letters from the Kentucky DOR may include your Tax Account ID.

What's My FEIN?

Your FEIN (Federal Employer Identification Number) is a nine-digit number assigned to your business by the IRS, used to identify your business for federal and state tax purposes. It follows the format: XX-XXXXXXX.

Where to find it

You can find your FEIN in any of the following places:

  • Your IRS EIN confirmation letter (CP 575). The IRS issues this letter when your EIN is assigned. Your FEIN is printed at the top of this document.

  • Previously filed federal or state tax returns. Your FEIN appears on federal business tax returns (e.g., Form 1120, 1065, or Schedule C) and on Kentucky state tax filings.

  • Your Kentucky Business OneStop account. Log in at onestop.ky.gov and review your business profile, where your FEIN may be listed.

What's My Gross Receipts from Most Recently Filed Return?

Your Gross Receipts figure is the total gross receipts amount reported on your most recently filed Kentucky sales tax return.

Where to find it

You can find your Gross Receipts amount in any of the following places:

  • Your most recently filed Kentucky sales tax return. Review your last submitted return for the gross receipts line item.

  • Your Kentucky Business OneStop account. Log in at onestop.ky.gov, navigate to your sales tax account, and access your filing history to locate the most recent return and the gross receipts reported.

  • Your internal accounting records. Your bookkeeping software or accountant should have a record of the gross receipts figure from your last Kentucky sales tax filing.

⚠️ Important: The gross receipts amount you provide must match what was reported on your most recently filed return with the Kentucky Department of Revenue.
