Idaho Credentials for Importing Registration

How to locate the state-issued credentials required for importing your Idaho registration.
Updated 15 days ago

To import your existing Idaho sales tax registration into Kintsugi, you'll need to provide a few details issued by the Idaho State Tax Commission (STC) when you registered your business. Once imported, Kintsugi can manage your Idaho sales tax filings.

Required Credentials

When importing an existing Idaho sales tax registration into Kintsugi, you'll need the following:

  • Registered Business Name

  • State Tax ID

  • TAP Access Code

What's My Registered Business Name?

Your Registered Business Name is the official legal business name you provided to the state when you registered for your Idaho sales tax permit.

Where to find it

You can find your registered business name in any of the following:

  • Your Idaho Seller's Permit. The business name appears on the seller's permit issued to you by the Idaho State Tax Commission after registration.

  • Your Idaho State Tax Commission correspondence. Any notices, letters, or account-related communications from the Idaho STC will reference your registered business name.

  • Your Idaho TAP account. Log in to your Taxpayer Access Point (TAP) account at tax.idaho.gov and review your business profile or account information to confirm the name on file.

What's my State Tax ID?

Your State Tax ID is the account number issued to you by the Idaho State Tax Commission when you registered for your Idaho sales tax permit. This nine-digit registration ID serves as the primary identifier for your Idaho sales tax account.

Where to find it

You can find your State Tax ID in any of the following places:

  • Your Idaho Seller's Permit. Your State Tax ID is printed on the seller's permit mailed to you by the Idaho State Tax Commission after registration.

  • Your Idaho State Tax Commission correspondence. Any notices, letters, or account-related communications from the Idaho STC may include your State Tax ID.

  • Your Idaho TAP account. Log in at tax.idaho.gov and review your account details or business profile to locate your State Tax ID.

What's My TAP Access Code?

Your TAP Access Code is a unique, case-sensitive security code that grants third-party access to your Idaho Taxpayer Access Point (TAP) account. This code is required so that Kintsugi can file and pay sales tax returns on your behalf.

⚠️ Important: For security purposes, the TAP Access Code is sent via postal mail to the account owner's address on file. It can take up to 2 weeks to arrive after the state sends it out. Please make sure your mailing address is current and accurate in your Idaho TAP account.

Where to find it

After registering for a sales tax permit in Idaho, you will receive a Taxpayer Access Point (TAP) code in the mail. This code will be needed to access your online account. Here is where to look for it:

  • Your TAP Access Code letter. The letter will contain a security code specific to the third-party access request and will grant File & Pay access. The included authorization code will be long, case-sensitive, and unique.

  • Your Idaho TAP account. If you need to request a new access code, log in at tax.idaho.gov and navigate to the Access panel under the More tab to manage third-party access settings.

Note: Access codes can take up to 7–10 business days to arrive by mail. If you are unable to locate your code, contact the Idaho State Tax Commission at 1-800-972-7660 for assistance.

Need to Grant Account Access?
