This unique identifier is how the Texas Comptroller's office recognizes your business in their system, and it's a required field when connecting your Texas account to Kintsugi. Whether you're registering for the first time or looking to enable AutoPilot, having this number readily available will make the process quick and straightforward.


What Is the Texas Taxpayer Number?

The Texas Taxpayer Number is an 11-digit number issued to an individual or entity by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. According to the Texas Comptroller, your taxpayer number begins with either a 1 or a 3, and is distinct from other identifiers such as your Federal Employer Identification Number (EIN) or your Texas Secretary of State File Number.

Where to Find Your Texas Taxpayer Number

You can look up your Texas Taxpayer Number directly on the Texas Comptroller's website by following these steps:

  1. Go to Taxpayer Search.

  2. Enter your FEI number without a hyphen.

  3. Select “All Permits” for Permit Type.

  4. Click the “Submit” button.
