Utah Credentials for Importing Registration

Use this guide to identify the credentials needed for registration import in Utah.
Updated yesterday

If you’re importing an existing Utah sales tax registration into Kintsugi, you’ll need at least two state-issued identifiers from the Utah State Tax Commission – State Tax ID and State Tax Pin. This article explains how to locate both and how to identify them.

Required Credentials

These are the needed credentials for importing Utah registration:

  • State Registered Business Name

  • UT State Tax ID

  • Sales Tax PIN

What is my UT State Tax ID?

This is the registration number or account number is provided by the state after you registered for your sales tax license. It contains 14 characters: 11 numbers followed by “STC.” For example: 12345678-901-STC.

Where to find my UT state tax ID?

There are numerous ways to locate your Utah state tax ID. Here are the options available:

  • Check your Utah Sales Tax License or State Tax Certificate. Your Utah state sales tax ID may appear on the Utah Sales Tax License, State Tax Certificate, or Sales and Use Tax Certificate of Registration issued by the Utah State Tax Commission.

  • Log in to Utah TAP. If you don’t have a physical copy of your state tax certificate or any correspondence from the Utah State Tax Commission, you can check your account records, correspondence, and registration documents through the Taxpayer Access Point (TAP). From there, you’ll see your state tax ID.

  • Contact Utah TAP Support. If you can’t access your account, get help for TAP access by calling them at 801-297-3996 or 800-662-4335 ext. 3996.

What is my Sales Tax Pin?

This is the PIN used with your Utah Sales and Use Tax account in Taxpayer Access Point (TAP). Once you have a sales tax account, you can use your state tax ID or account number and PIN to create a TAP login.

Where to find my sales tax PIN?

Your sales tax PIN is in the sales tax letter you received from the Utah State Tax Commission after your registration was confirmed. You may also request your PIN at TAPSupport@utah.gov. Please include your account number and username when you do. Utah State Tax Commission will mail your PIN to the address on file.

You can also call 801-297-3996 to obtain your PIN if you are the account owner or registered agent, and the department can verify your personal information.

Next Step

Once you provide the required credentials, Kintsugi will initiate the third-party access request. You do not need to validate or approve the request separately, as Kintsugi will complete this step on your behalf.

Once access is confirmed, Kintsugi can continue with the registration import setup in the app.
