To import your existing Washington sales tax registration into Kintsugi, you’ll need to provide a few details associated with your Washington Department of Revenue account. Washington businesses use My DOR to manage tax and business licensing activity, including filing excise tax returns, managing business account information, and accessing tax-related correspondence. Washington DOR also notes that businesses receive a Unified Business Identifier (UBI)/account ID and filing frequency after registration.
When importing an existing Washington sales tax registration into Kintsugi, you may need the following:
My DOR credentials (username and password)
State Registered Business Name
Washington State Tax ID (aka UBI or account number)
Your MyDOR credentials are the SAW (SecureAccess Washington) User ID and Password used to log in to Washington's MyDOR portal at dor.wa.gov. SecureAccess Washington (SAW) is Washington State's unified login system, meaning the same User ID and Password can also be used to access other Washington State government services.
When setting up your MyDOR account, make sure to save your SAW User ID and Password in a secure location — if you ever lose access to them, you can use the self-service Forgot my SAW User ID and Forgot Password options on the MyDOR login page to recover them.
Your State Registered Business Name is the business name you provided to Washington when you registered for your sales tax license.
You can usually find your registered business name on your Washington sales tax registration paperwork, business license, tax registration documents, or correspondence from the Washington Department of Revenue.
You may also be able to find it in your My DOR account by reviewing your business profile, account information, or tax account details.
Your Washington State Tax ID is the state-issued identification number associated with your Washington tax account. For Washington, this is generally the 9-digit state certificate number, also commonly referred to as the UBI, Account ID, tax registration number, business registration number, or business license number.
You can usually find your Washington State Tax ID in the following places:
Your Washington Department of Revenue correspondence
Washington DOR states that your Account ID appears in the upper-right corner of correspondence from the department, under the Letter ID. The Account ID is also the UBI.
Your Washington business license or tax registration documents
After registering your business, Washington DOR states that businesses receive a business license and UBI number from the Business Licensing Service. You may also receive a letter from the Department of Revenue with your UBI/account ID number and filing frequency.
Your My DOR account
Log in to My DOR and review your business account, tax account access, excise tax account, or account information. If your excise tax account is not visible, you may need to link the excise tax account to your Washington login before Kintsugi can complete the import process.
Washington Business Lookup
Washington DOR’s Business Lookup can be used to search for business licenses, tax accounts, and reseller permits issued by the department. It supports searches by business name, trade name, UBI, license number, and other business details.
Previously filed Washington excise tax returns
Your Washington account number, UBI, or tax account details may also appear on previously filed excise tax returns or related filing records.
Once you've located your credentials, you may also need to grant Kintsugi access to your Washington tax account. Check out Enabling Third-Party Access in Washington for step-by-step instructions.
