The roadmap empowers product managers to track the progress of enhancements across their products. It serves as a tool for project management and strategic planning, offering list, Gantt, and release tracker views.
📝 Note: To open the roadmap, go to Product > Roadmap in the DevRev app.
📝 Note: Viewing the roadmap requires at least read access to the product area. Editing enhancements, reordering, or adjusting dates requires contributor-level permissions or higher in your workspace.
The list view organizes enhancements into three time-based columns—Now, Next, and Later—so you can see progress at a glance. For a detailed explanation of these columns, see Now, Next, Later.
Now contains enhancements in the In Progress stages (UX Design, In Development, In Testing). Use the Stage and Target close date columns to estimate how long each enhancement takes to complete. Enhancements that reach Limited Availability or General Availability move out of Now and appear in the Release Tracker.
Next contains enhancements that are prioritized for upcoming work. Track customer requests through linked tickets, opportunities, and potential revenue to evaluate total customer impact. Prioritize enhancements based on customer impact, ticket volume, and issue severity to gain insight into customer needs and estimate the required effort.
Later contains ideas for future enhancements. When an enhancement is ready for development, change its stage from Ideation to Prioritized to move it into Next.
To add a new enhancement directly from the roadmap, click + Enhancement at the top of any column and fill in the required fields. For details on enhancement fields and workflows, see Enhancements.
Group enhancements by Created by, Stage, Type, or Part to organize the view around your preferred dimension. Click Customize in the toolbar above the list to add or remove filters, columns, and grouping options.
To save a customized roadmap view, click Save as in the top-right corner. This creates a vista you can revisit or share with teammates via its URL.
⚠️ Caution: Drag-and-drop reordering of enhancements does not work when a sort or group-by is active. Remove all sort and group-by settings before reordering items manually.
The Gantt view replaces the list layout with a timeline visualization, giving a comprehensive perspective on enhancement schedules.
Each enhancement displays two overlapping bars:
Grey outline: The planned window from target start date to target close date.
Blue fill: The actual window from the actual start date to the current date or actual close date. If the blue bar extends beyond the grey outline, the enhancement has spilled past its planned close date.
These visual conventions make it straightforward to spot schedule deviations without checking individual records.
Compare the grey (planned) and blue (actual) bars for completed enhancements. Where the blue bar extends beyond the grey outline, the enhancement closed later than planned.
Click an enhancement bar to open its detail panel and review the actual start date, actual close date, and any linked issues or blockers that contributed to the delay.
Use these patterns across multiple enhancements to identify systemic causes—such as underestimated scope or resource constraints—and adjust future target dates or staffing accordingly.
Add target dates to unplanned enhancements by dragging directly on the timeline or opening the enhancement detail panel.
Dynamically adjust schedules by dragging enhancement bars to shift start and close dates based on project priorities and completion estimates.
Switch between day, month, and year scales in the toolbar for a granular or broad overview.
Link customer requests (tickets) to in-development enhancements to surface an estimate of customer impact alongside the timeline.
Change filters to focus on a specific product, part, or team. Save your customized Gantt view by clicking Save as in the top-right corner to create a vista you can share with stakeholders.
The Release Tracker is a separate tab within the roadmap view. Click the Release Tracker tab next to the List and Gantt tabs to open it.
This view surfaces enhancements that have reached Limited Availability (LA) or General Availability (GA) within the last 30 days, as well as enhancements with an approaching release—defined as those whose target release date falls within the next 30 days.
Use the Release Tracker to:
Communicate releases to stakeholders. Review recently shipped enhancements and share the Release Tracker vista URL with product marketing, support, or leadership teams so they can prepare announcements and documentation.
Monitor upcoming releases. Identify enhancements approaching their release date and verify that all prerequisite work—such as documentation, release notes, and QA sign-off—is complete.
Link to release notes. Where release notes are attached to an enhancement, click through from the Release Tracker to review or edit them before the release goes live.
